Dublin Latchkey, Inc. was founded in 1982 by a local resident, Maureen Bruce. Dublin Latchkey strives to meet the needs of the children, families and schools in the community through being a non-profit. Every dollar is returned to those whom it serves.
As a non-profit dedicated to the education of children, we feel strongly on teaching students on the roll of community and being a responsible member of a community. At each school site, we select local and national charities to raise awareness and support. The students learn about a needed cause and how they can help. Dublin Latchkey is always looking for ways to give back to the Dublin Community through service projects, volunteering and fund raisers for other Non-Profits. Recently, in honor of the company’s founder, the Maureen Bruce Scholarship was developed in 2012. The college scholarship is for those students who have been enrolled in our program and graduate from Dublin City Schools.
Each day students are given the opportunity to participate in gross motor activates for at least 30 minutes. In addition, fresh fruits and vegetables are served at a minimum of three times a week for afternoon snack.
Dublin Latchkey, Inc. curriculum focuses on the development of social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Each assistant teacher provides a weekly lesson in math, sciences, cultural studies and cooperative learning. Every lesson is carefully intertwined with fun activities that engage the students while educating. In addition, once a week all students will participate in reading for at least 20 minutes. Dublin latchkey also provides educational 4-6 week course for students to participate in that include: robotics, languages, technology, Rembrandt, physical activities and much more (please see your lead teacher for a listing of courses at your building).
In addition, Students are provided the resources to receive academic assistance on homework from our Education Coordinator (EC). Our EC teachers have been trained on the Ohio Department of Educations academic content standards and work closely with the schools teaching staff to provide seamless consistency.
Although, Dublin Latchkey’s curriculum addresses all areas of education, we have focused on STEM as our foundation. Dublin Latchkey has partnered with many organization such as GirlStart, After-school Alliance STEM and 4-H to provide high quality STEM courses and programs.
